One product, four variations

SPIN fascinates your guests as a tabletop fireplace, lantern, garden torch or hanging fire. With the SPIN hanging solution, the flame swirl takes off and seems to magically float in space. By simply mounting the wing body on the ground spike, you can stick your SPIN in the lawn, flower bed or pot, and with the optional elevating base for outdoor use, you can set the unique mood-lifter a little higher. The secret behind the flame vortex

How is the signature SPIN flame vortex created? When the höfats bioethanol gel fuel is ignited and the glass cylinder made of heat-resistant borosilicate is placed on top, the inflowing air is set in rotation via three baffles. This movement is passed on to the flame, and the glass's own thermals and chimney effect additionally propel the fire vortex, which is securely enclosed. As a result, the flame grows by more than 500 percent in height and extends over the entire length of the glass cylinder - without any additional energy at all!

The origin of this extraordinary höfats idea lies in our deep enthusiasm for physical phenomena. Fascinated by the dramatic interplay of tornado and fire, we were spurred on to translate this force of nature into a product that tames the flames and brings them into our homes in a completely harmless and comforting manner.

Before we could get to that point, we had to understand the principle behind this down to the smallest detail. We tried out a tremendous amount. Our most spectacular result: a flame more than ten metres high, driven by twelve powerful fans. Of course, such a system is not a solution for the living room. Therefore, our next ambition was to create the fire vortex purely thermally and, ideally, without any electricity at all.

A few tests later, the concept was born and the foundation was laid for today's SPIN flame vortex.

FAQ

Can I hang up the hanging fire straight after delivery?

Yes, our SPIN hanging fire always comes with a ring screw and wall plug, so you can set it up and hang it straight away.

Can I also use the hanging fire as a tabletop fire?

Yes, if you want to use your hanging fire as a tabletop fire, you can purchase the SPIN Base (the stand) separately in the matching size and colour. Instead of the suspension, the base is screwed onto the SPIN, instantly transforming it into a tabletop fire. You’ll find the bases in our spare parts section:

Of course, you can also do it the other way round: buy a tabletop fire and add the hanging system as a separate accessory.

What clearance should I keep from the ceiling?

We recommend a minimum distance of at least 60 cm on all sides – including upwards. Downwards, SPIN emits no heat. The only exception is the SPIN 1500: when used with the hanging system, a minimum distance of at least 80 cm must be kept all around.

Can I upgrade my SPIN 90 | 120 hanging fire to a SPIN 900 | 1200 by purchasing the Bio-Burner?

Yes, by purchasing the Bio-Burner and using höfats liquid bioethanol, you can insert it instead of the gel container. This automatically upgrades your SPIN 90 | 120 to a SPIN 900 | 1200.

How should I store my SPIN hanging fire?

The SPIN hanging fire is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. If you use it outdoors, we recommend taking it down and storing it indoors when not in use or in bad weather to protect the glass and metal in the long term. In general, for all our SPINs, we recommend indoor storage to increase longevity.
