FIRE AND MAGIC OF A MOUNTAIN HUT

Winter trip with CRATE
The earlier it gets dark in winter, the more you appreciate the warming sunrays. So what could be more beautiful than a walk outdoors in pure nature?
We realized this idea on a wonderful afternoon in March. An old mountain hut in the Ostertal was the destination of our tour. And it was of great advantage that Luisa – through personal connections – got the key. Sometimes, spontaneity is the best way to go….

Bread on sticks over an open fire
Over snow-covered paths, we make our way up to the hut. We cross a bridge and a mountain stream which still bears little water in this time of year. Having arrived at the hut, we prepare our fire basket. Soon afterwards, the flames are crackling in it. We quickly fix a hammock between two trees and lay out blankets on the ground – and the breadbaking session was ready to begin behind the hut. A very special “snack” we really have deserved after the ascent.

Campfire atmosphere at the table
It is getting dark and our cozy round is continued inside the mountain hut. Samuel and Klaus light fire in the stove. The fire warms all of us and we commonly prepare sweet “Rohrnudeln” with vanilla sauce in the old oven – as originally and traditionally as it was 100 years ago. We forget the flow of time around us, laugh and talk – about all the moments we have spent and experienced together so far. Karl Valentin would say: “Today it is the good, old time of tomorrow.”
